What is an essential oil diffuser?
If you haven’t heard yet of essential oil diffusers, then you better catch up fast. Over the years, health has been a hot and prime topic across the globe. People have become more and more conscious of the things that they allow themselves to be exposed to — both physically and mentally. And as they’ve begun to give great emphasis on the significance of overall health and well-being, they’ve also recognized the power of essential oils and diffusers.
Now, what are they, really? What do they do?
In simpler terms, an essential oil diffuser, also known as an aromatherapy diffuser is a device that helps carefully break essential oils down into smaller molecules, and evenly disperse the particles into the air in a manner that’s breathable and not too overpowering. Depending on the properties that these oils carry, these diffused oils can have a big impact on the room’s ambiance and to your brain too.Back to table of contents
Types of essential oil diffuser
There are 4 types of diffusers available in the market: Nebulizing diffusers, Ultrasonic (humidifying) diffusers, Evaporative diffusers, and Electric (heat) diffusers. Although some look different and/or work differently, they all have the same purpose: to safely diffuse essential oils into the room.
Nebulizing diffusers rely purely on pressurized air in order to diffuse the essential oil. These diffusers do not need heat nor water, allowing you to experience the full health benefits of your oils. Not to mention how low-maintenance they are too!
Ultrasonic (Humidifying) Diffusers
Ultrasonic diffusers work by adding oil into water, where they are suspended into the surface. Inside these diffusers are disks that vibrate and disturb the water molecules, causing the oil to divide into tiny particles. These tiny fragments of oil are then dispersed into a fine mist and scatter around the room. Diffusing and humidifying all at the same time!
The mechanism for Evaporative diffusers is pretty simple. They work by making use of a fan to evaporate the oil into the air. The only problem with these diffusers, aside from the fact that these fans can be quite noisy, is that as oil evaporates, its potency quickly decreases. But, if you’re only after a quick aromatic session, then this should be good enough!
Electric (Heat) Diffusers
Last but definitely not least, let’s talk about Electric diffusers. These diffusers work pretty the same with Evaporative diffusers. However, instead of a fan, they make use of heat, mostly powered through electricity, making it a lot more silent. However, do expect some changes to your oil’s chemical properties, as an effect from the high temperature.Back to table of contents
